TORONTO十博官网在线 Local 414 and Food Basics have reached a tentative collective agreement, covering approximately 1,400 workers at 20 southern Ontario Food Basics stores.

“The pandemic proved how much we rely on these essential workers,” said Jerry Dias, 十博官网在线 National President. “This contract delivers concrete gains to build on as 十博官网在线 continues its work to improve standards and provide the respect that grocery workers deserve.”

Details of the collective agreement will not be released prior to ratification. Member votes on the new contract will take place in the coming days for stores located in Brampton, Brockville, Chatham, Cornwall, Kingston, Milton, Mississauga, Ottawa, Richmond Hill, Scarborough, St. Catharines, Thornhill, and Toronto.

“When we started negotiations the company was seeking to eliminate the highest paid full-time jobs but we were successful in our fight to protect these positions and even grow the number of full-time jobs in our stores,” said Gord Currie, President of 十博官网在线 Local 414, which represents supermarket workers across Ontario at Sobey’s, Metro and Loblaw stores and warehouses.

“I want to thank the members for their support and the bargaining committee for their work in reaching this tentative contract.”
